Keeper's Notes : August 14 2026
The trout and grayling are keeping very much to the shade of the banks and rushes but are rising to flies and taking nymphs as they pass. A lack of ranunculus weed this year is not helping to provide cover habitat for fish and nymphs. 
Can I suggest you call before a day or two before coming to the river - in case the heat gets too intense for the fish?
There will be no  weedcut.
That was the driest July since records began in 1875.

Weed Cutting 2026 dates :  PROVISIONAL DATES BELOW 

Cutting : 1)  APRIL 27 - MAY  11     with Clearing Down  12 and 13th 
               2) JUNE  16 - 28              with Clearing Down 29 and 30th - NO WEED CUT REQUIRED
               3) JULY 26 - AUG 4          with Clearing Down August 5 and 6th - NO WEED CUT ENVISAGED.
